Hello! Sorry if I just updated this now.. I really want this blog to be a monthly thingie but my work got the better half of my time and the not so better half of it as well.. Hahaha! Not that I'm not happy but it's just that starting out as a newbie in a new company buying for a high-staked position really puts the pressure on you! That's what's happening now... I love the people around me. They're very supportive! But I guess I'm just having these moments of "whimphood". Happens to everybody, I guess. Anyway, this blog will be about... Hmm... I'm starting this blog today.. That's July 11, 2005 around 8:12pm... I'll probably finish it next month, August... What would be a good theme.. Hmm... What about... ROBOTIX! Yeah, I know not all of you are Anime Fans or Mecha Fans.. But I know you'll still find it amusing.. Well, basically, model kits are those expensive gundam kits (assemble it yourself) you can buy from just about any hobby or toy shop! Anyway, just scroll down, learn, and be amused! DETAILING MODEL KITS?
When we say Model Kits, those are the sets of ready to assemble or already assembled figure of a character, weapon, or means of transportation. Basically, it’s a smaller version or real life version of what you see on TV or in books. To get a better visual on what I’m trying to say, see the pictures below.
 
Well, we all know Asuka.. from Neon Genesis Evangelion.. Who doesn’t.. Notice the similarities on the models and the anime screenshot?
Now that I have your attention.. “Detailing” means improving the manufactured parts. Perfecting them to look like they’re real, so to speak. Sometimes, the word “detailing” can also mean “customizing”. Of course, from the word itself, we can say that customizing is changing or altering the pre-designed model kit to fit your own taste. The outcome may or may not look like the original or what that model should really be.
DIVIDE AND CONQUER!
For the sake of this blog, we will divide Model Kits into 2 categories… The 2 categories are “Figures” and “Mecha”. Figures would be those kits that are miniatures of humans. And Mecha would be kits that resemble robots, tankers or vehicles.
To further divide the Mecha category, we have Sci-Fi and Military / Non-Fiction. Sci-Fi (Science Fiction) deals with robots or fictitious Mechas and Non-Fiction deals with models of real life vehicles, ships, or whatever isn’t biological. For this month’s blog, our topic would be Sci-Fi Mecha Model Kits and if all goes well, I will make Figure Model Kits my topic for the following month. Below are samples of Mecha Models.
